Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 31, 2026

Cedar by Arboreal AI ("Cedar," "we," "us") is a daily habit check-in service delivered via SMS. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

What we collect

When you sign up and use Cedar, we collect:

  • Contact info. Your name, phone number, and email address.
  • Intake survey responses. Answers you provide through our signup form (hosted on Tally).
  • Check-in conversations. The text messages you exchange with Cedar.
  • Timezone. So we can message you at reasonable hours.

How we use it

  • Send you personalized daily check-ins via SMS.
  • Remember your goals, habits, and preferences between conversations.
  • Improve Cedar based on how people use it (aggregated, not individual).

We do not sell your data, and we do not share your intake responses or your conversations with any third party for advertising.

Advertising and analytics on our marketing pages

Our public marketing pages, including this one, may load advertising measurement tools such as the Meta pixel. These record generic page activity (for example, that a page was viewed) along with standard technical information your browser sends, like your IP address. We use this only to understand which ads bring people to our site.

We deliberately limit what these tools ever receive. Your intake survey answers and your Cedar conversations are never sent to an advertising platform, and we do not pass any information that identifies you personally to one. If you prefer to block this entirely, browser privacy settings and tracker-blocking extensions will stop these tools from loading.

Your phone number is never used for advertising

To be completely specific, because this is the part people worry about:

  • We never upload your phone number or email address to Meta, Google, Reddit, or any other advertising platform. Not in plain form, and not hashed or encoded.
  • We do not build custom audiences, lookalike audiences, or any other targeting list out of our subscribers.
  • We do not use your number to target ads at you, here or on any other site or app, and we do not let anyone else use it to reach you.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your contact details. Ever.

We do use your number to text you about Cedar itself. That includes your daily check-ins, onboarding, replies when you contact us for support, service updates, and occasional news about new Cedar features. That is the product you signed up for, and you can end it at any time by replying END. What we will not do is hand your number to an advertising platform or use it to follow you around the internet.

SMS specifics

We use your phone number to send you Cedar messages. In practice that means your daily check-ins, onboarding messages when you start, replies when you contact us for support, occasional service updates, and news about new Cedar features.

We send messages through Twilio, our SMS provider, which processes your phone number solely to deliver messages on our behalf.

Who can see your data

Your conversations are private. Designated team members at Arboreal AI may review conversations to fix issues and improve Cedar, but access is kept minimal and internal. We will never share your conversations with another company.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data as long as you use Cedar. If you want your data deleted, email [email protected] and we'll remove it within 30 days.

Ending Cedar

Reply END to any Cedar message and we will stop texting you.

Please know that this ends the service itself, not just one type of message. You will stop getting daily check-ins, and Cedar will not follow up with you again. It is not a way to pause or to receive fewer messages. If you want to come back later, email [email protected] and we will get you set up again.

The standard opt-out words also work and do the same thing: STOP, STOPALL, CANCEL, QUIT, and UNSUBSCRIBE. Reply HELP at any time for support, or email [email protected].

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we'll let you know via text or email. The effective date at the top tells you when this version took effect.
